The Southeast Region meets twice a year in April and September. We have recently decided to have all meetings at a central location - Stewartville. This has increased attendance but the fringe areas are usually missing. Attendance has numbered about 75-80 each meeting. The Region has also implemented a training segment at each meeting which seems to be well accepted. Vendors are also invited to attend and usually 5-6 show to present their product.
Tri-County Firefighters meet four times each year along with a Legislative meeting in January. 75-80 is also normal for their meetings which are moved to different sites each time. This year the Legislative meeting had 50 persons in attendance and three legislators - Davids, Pellowski and Drazkowski.
Major issues from both groups are the Pension plan, licensing and the 800 mhz radio system and its cost. The major concern is that while these programs are voluntary now, that they will become mandatory in the future.
