MSFDA Conference is June 10-13, 2010 in Grand Rapids

Packets available for download; registration deadline is April 30 

The 135th Annual Conference of the Minnesota State Fire Department Association will be held Thursday, June 10, Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, 2010 in the city of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The event is being hosted by the Grand Rapids Fire Department and many events are planning for those attending, including some very informative and timely educational firefighter training.

Training during the event will be held on Friday, June 11 at the Grand Rapids High School and firefighters can pick from 12 different 4-hour classes, or 6 2-hour classes. Following the morning classes, a 3-hour symposium will be held at the Reif Center featuring Captain Mike Gagliano of the Seattle Fire Department. Captain Gagliano will be presenting "The Point of No Return and How Firefighters are Dying in Structure Fires."

Captain Gagliano has 24 years of fire/crash/rescue experience with the Seattle Fire Department and the United States Air Force. He is the captain of Ladder 5 and a member of the Seattle Fire Department's Critical Decision/Tactical Training group. Captain Gagliano has written numerous fire service articles, is co-author of the bestselling book "Air Management for the Fire Service" and the SCBA chapter of the Handbook for Firefighter 1 & 2 from Pennwell. He is a member of the FDIC Associate Advisory Board, a Director for the Cyanide Poisoning Treatment Coalition and teaches across the country on Air Management, Fireground Tactics, Leadership and Company Officer Development. He also partners with his wife Anne to teach on ways to develop and maintain a strong marriage/family and has two sons in the Pre-Med and Pre-Law programs at Seattle Pacific University.
